If there is one fashion item I absolutely love wearing in the summer (excluding a bikini) it’s a dress. I literally live in my dresses all summer long. You don’t have to think about what to pair them with unlike a skirt or pant, but it’s also light to wear on the skin. When it’s hot, I don’t like to have many things touching my skin. So the less I wear the better! Additionally a dress is an easy and quick way to look elegant and feminine. Now, let’s dive into my wardrobe to show you the styles of dresses I wear constantly.
Smocked Tie-Strap Midi Dress
This is my go to dress! The style of dress I wear on repeat all summer long. It’s a very simple dress yet very cute and feminine. The cut of this dress is flattering on all body shapes. So ladies, if you had to pick only one dress, it should be this style of dress in my opinion. You can create different looks depending on the shoes you wear. For example, pair this dress with a good pair of flats during the day for a casual chic look and heels in the evening to elevate the look. I wear my white smocked tie strap dress on repeat. The best part?! I got it very cheap at TJ Maxx!!!! Yep, who said you had to pay a lot to look good?! You just need to know what to look for, meaning pay attention to the fabric of the dress you’re buying (choose cotton and other natural fabrics), the cut and color. Anyway I love this dress and I have another one in blue and yellow that I bought at H&M and TJ Maxx again!
Puff Sleeve Maxi Dress
If I had to describe THE perfect dress for the beach and pool it would be this one! This dress elevates your beach look instantly. Style it with a nice pair of flip flops and a raffia tan bag. Voila, the perfect casual chic look for the beach! My raffia bag is from Jenni Kayne and I bought this dress at Mango on sale. You may be surprised to hear that I actually don’t spend much on my clothes. Instead I invest in good quality and timeless fashion pieces such as shoes, bags, jackets and accessories like sunglasses.
Spaghetti Strap Scoop Neck Maxi Dress
I was talking about the perfect dress for the beach, well this one is another good style of dress I love to wear on top of a bikini. It’s perfect for a hot day. This dress comes from far away. I bought in on a market in Bali, Indonesia 10 years ago! I still wear it today and love it.
Short Ruffle Dress
This dress is SO feminine and romantic, just gorgeous! I mean who doesn’t love a good short ruffle dress?! Well LoveShackFancy definitely knows how to do it! I scored a great deal on that dress during a Black Friday sale a few years ago.
Slip Dress
I am a fan of slip dresses. It’s such a simple cut yet so chic. I love wearing this style of dress with nice sandals during the day and heels in the evening. I bought this purple slip dress at H&M. I absolutely love the purple color. It makes such a statement!
Floral Midi Dress
You might remember that I said I’m not a fan of patterns on clothes. Well this is the only floral dress I have in my wardrobe! I bought it at a market in my hometown in France. I got attracted to the green color and the white flowers keep it simple. Long story short, I do love this floral dress.
Off The Shoulder Ruffle Dress
I love dresses that have a romantic vibe and this off the shoulder black ruffle dress is exactly that, romantic yet simple. This dress is another perfect example of day to night dress. You can wear it with a pair of flats during the day and elevate it with high heels in the evening for a more glamorous look.
Nothing better to keep it simple when you style your dresses. My motto is: less is best. A good pair of sunglasses (a black pair if you had to choose only one), good shoes and nice bags are the foundation of good styling in my opinion. Then stack colorful pearls bracelets on your wrist and/or a thick bracelet and you’re done. I hope you enjoy styling your dresses with some of these tips!
